There are probably times when you feel your glasses get in the way so contact lenses are another option when you’re playing sport, socializing, on holiday or just at work. With technological advances, there are now contact lenses to suit most prescriptions. We’ll take the time to find the most suitable contact lenses for your lifestyle and vision needs.

Before deciding on the best contact lens for you, you will need to have an up to date eye examination. If your last eye examination has been within the last year, this prescription information should be perfectly valid. If you already have had an eye examination from another Optometrist, we may need to check that the prescription is suitable for use.

Our Optometrists will then discuss in-depth your contact lens requirements and make recommendations of the most suitable contact lenses for you.

Our Optometrists will carry out a detailed assessment of your eyes, checking not only vision and health, but aspects such as the size and curvature of the cornea, and also how well your tears work in lubricating your eyes. This information will then be used to judge if the recommended contact lenses should be suitable for your eyes. The Optometrist will then place some lenses in your eye, and after becoming accustomed to them, the lenses are assessed to determine how well they fit and how well you can see.

The next step is the Contact Lens Instruction. This is designed to give you the confidence to insert and remove the contact lenses yourself, and you will be given time to practice this with our Eyecare Professional. As part of this procedure, you will also learn about cleaning the contact lenses (if applicable) and all the “Dos and Don’ts” of wearing contact lenses. Once you are comfortable with all of this, you will be given a wearing schedule and some contact lenses to take away with you. A follow up appointment will be scheduled to check the health of your eyes, the comfort and the fit of the contact lenses.

Following this appointment, providing the contact lenses are working well with your eyes, you are then able to order and purchase a supply of lenses and use them as discussed with your Eyecare professional.
