1979 – Doug Moffatt opens his first practice in Pietermaritzburg
1987 – Moffatt & Hulbert Optometrists is formed when Warwick Hulbert joins Doug Moffatt as his partner
1995 – Mark Marshall becomes a partner in Moffatt & Hulbert Optometrists, Pietermaritzburg
1997 – the Moffatt Optical Group is created
Today
In 2011, Moffatt Optical Pietermaritzburg PROUDLY celebrates 32 years of administering outstanding, innovative vision care through our 7 branches in the KZN Midlands and 1 branch in Reservoir Hills, Durban. To complete the Moffatt Optical Pietermaritzburg team, there is Sunglass Zone by Moffatt Optical – the largest sunglass boutique in the KZN Midlands and Moffatt Express, our very own manufacturing lens laboratory – the only of its kind in the Midlands. Backing up these branches is the Head Office who takes care of most financial, administrative and stock functions.
Another 11 branches in Durban and Zululand keep the Moffatt Optical flag flying there.
